Knock the Vote

America is great because Americans are stupid. The majority of Americans have a simple job where they perform a simple task and get paid. They don’t ask questions, they don’t challenge the system, and they generally follow rules without questioning their purpose. This sort of cooperation makes for a very productive and well organized society.

The biggest problem that this country faces happens to be the trade-off of a simple minded society. As a whole, America’s critical thinking skills are almost non-existant. Every problem that we face as a country is approached without thinking about its root cause. What this leads to is a society that is very good at pointing out problems, proficient with producing patchy solutions, but almost incapable of identifying the real cause of problems and producing legitimate solutions.

Take our supposed voter problem. People see the low voter turnout and immediately think, “Lets get more people to vote!” Without second thought the country rises up with that sort of blind initiative that only stupid people have, like the initiative to start a bar fight. They start “Rock the Vote” and pressure “League of Women Voters” to get more votes into the ballot box.

When that doesn’t work, some dufus named Mark Osterloh offers a million dollars to a random voter to inspire people to take part in their “civic duty”. Then some other boytoucher says something about internet voting, then a stupid American gets farther from the real problem and Knock the Votestarts arguing about the security of internet voting. All the while, no one stops to ask, “Why?”

There is a giant push to solve a problem that does not exist. In fact, this is just a giant waste of time and energy that could go towards something that makes a difference. I talked to a co-worker regarding Mark Osterloh’s narrow minded plan, explaining how a vote just to make a million dollars would negate the vote of someone who actually gives a damn about the election, and keeps up to date on current events. As a response, he claims that the votes casted to make the money would negate themselves, and the informed voters would determine the election.

So then, why? Why force people into the voting booths if they don’t know about the issues, and don’t know where the candidates stand on them? Its useless. Its just another example of the American society attacking the shadow of a greater problem, and that is people just don’t care about America’s problems until they see money disappearing from their wallets or a picture disappear from their television screens. People care about their favorite washed-up celebrity advancing to the next round of Dancing with the Stars, and thats the kind of stupidity that makes America great.

I agree that people shouldn’t vote if they are blindly voting. That is stupid. I would rater go by the votes of the people who have done research rather than a bunch of people who haven’t
